Your Excellency sir,
I write to you today not as a critic, but as a concerned citizen who loves Osun State and fears for its future if we do not act decisively and immediately. The peace and tranquility that have long defined our dear state are under threat, and I believe it is my civic duty to draw your attention to the gathering storm of insecurity at our doorstep.
Your Excellency, Osun State has historically been a haven of peace in a region increasingly plagued by violence and criminality. However, recent developments suggest that this peace can no longer be taken for granted. Gradually, almost imperceptibly, the insecurity that has ravaged neighboring states is creeping into Osun with what appears to be a free hand. If care is not taken, if we remain complacent, we may wake up one day to find that the bandits and criminals who have terrorized other communities have established strongholds within our borders.
I humbly urge Your Excellency to immediately brief up our security architecture and tighten our borders against these criminal elements. Our state’s borders are porous, and without adequate surveillance and security presence, they serve as entry points for those who would bring chaos and suffering to our people. We must not wait until tragedy strikes before we act.
Prevention, as they say, is better than cure.
The security of lives and property is the primary responsibility of government, and I have no doubt that Your Excellency understands this sacred duty.
I therefore call on you to:
1. Strengthen security presence at all border communities and entry points into Osun State.
2. Enhance collaboration and intelligence sharing between various security agencies operating in the state.
3. Invest in modern security equipment and technology to aid surveillance and rapid response to threats.
4. Engage and empower local vigilante groups and community leaders who understand the terrain and can serve as early warning systems.
5. Ensure adequate welfare and motivation for security personnel to boost their morale and effectiveness.
Your Excellency, the cost of securing our state today is far less than the price we would pay tomorrow if insecurity takes root. Other states have learned this lesson the hard way. Let us not repeat their mistakes. Let us act now while we still can, while Osun is still relatively peaceful, to ensure it remains so.
The people of Osun State are looking to you for leadership and protection. History will judge us all by how we respond to this moment. I trust in your wisdom and commitment to the welfare of our people, and I pray that you will take swift and decisive action to safeguard our beloved state.
May God grant you the wisdom and courage to lead us through these challenging times.
