At least eight persons have been abducted by bandits in Biresawa village, Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, in a fresh security incident.
A reliable source told Daily Trust that the attackers struck the community between 11 pm and 12 midnight on Monday.
“From what we have gathered so far, two men and six women were taken. We have no information on their current whereabouts,” the source said.
One relative of the victims, Kabiru Usman, said the attackers came from the neighbouring Tsundu village.
“They came on foot, armed with guns. They kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife, and two other women. We tried to stop them, but our weapons were no match,” Usman explained.
Residents had alerted the police and military prior to the attack after receiving warnings that the bandits were approaching the communities.
“Before the attack, we got information that they were heading our way. We notified the security agencies, including the police and military, as instructed,” he added.
