It’s freedom at last for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has sustained its earlier order, allowing the party to proceed with its much-anticipated National Convention.

The court, presided over by Justice A.L. Akintola, reaffirmed on Monday, November 10, 2025, that the PDP is free to hold its Elective National Convention as scheduled for Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Ibadan, at the Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba.

In a ruling that put an end to moves aimed at stalling the event, Justice Akintola maintained his directive to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to attend, monitor, and observe the convention pending the determination of the Motion on Notice.

The judge further sustained his earlier orders to the PDP National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, and the National Convention Organizing Committee to ensure that the convention is conducted as planned.

With the ruling, the final legal hurdle has been cleared, paving the way for the PDP to elect a new set of national officers who will pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The decision has triggered widespread celebration across PDP circles nationwide, as members hailed the judgment as a triumph for democracy, justice, and party unity.
