A total of 153 Nigerians repatriated from Chad under the Assisted Voluntary Return Programme, jointly managed by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Federal Government, have been received by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, the Lagos Operations Office of NEMA confirmed that the returnees landed at the Cargo Terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2025. They arrived aboard an ASKY Airlines aircraft with registration number CAS-AC.
According to the agency, the group comprised 105 adults — 63 men and 42 women — along with 45 children (25 boys and 20 girls) and 3 infant girls.
Upon their arrival, personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) carried out biometric registration and documentation to ensure proper identification and facilitate their reintegration into society.
NEMA further stated that, in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to the safe and humane return of its citizens, the returnees were offered immediate humanitarian support. This included food and clean water, medical attention and ambulance services, assistance with luggage and logistics, as well as counselling and general coordination.
The agency noted that the exercise was conducted in partnership with the IOM, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, and other relevant bodies.
