The Manchester City striker has already carved a reputation as one of the Red Devils’ biggest nightmares. But how does he compare to other players who have consistently punished United over the years?
From Liverpool legends to Arsenal icons and City greats, several forwards have made a habit of finding the net against United.
According to Planet Football, here are the players with the most Premier League goals against Manchester United:
1. Mohamed Salah – 13 goals
Liverpool’s Egyptian superstar leads the pack. With 13 goals and six assists, Salah has inflicted more misery on United than anyone else in Premier League history. His brilliance, particularly in the post-Ferguson era, has made him the ultimate tormentor of Old Trafford.
2. Alan Shearer – 10 goals
The league’s all-time leading scorer also made his mark against United, striking 10 times. None of these came from the penalty spot—every single one was from open play. Shearer’s relentless consistency and ruthless finishing highlight his legendary status.
3. Erling Haaland – 8 goals
Despite only joining the league recently, Haaland has already forced his way into the top three. A hat-trick in his first Manchester derby set the tone, and he has kept terrorising United’s defence since. With a goal every 67 minutes against them, his strike rate is the deadliest on this list.
4. Sergio Agüero – 8 goals
Manchester City’s record scorer lived for big moments. His eight goals against United often silenced Old Trafford and sent the blue half of Manchester wild. Agüero once admitted that netting in these fixtures gave him goosebumps, proof of how much he savoured the derby.
5. Thierry Henry – 8 goals
The Arsenal icon lit up battles against United, scoring eight times and registering four assists in just 14 appearances. Still, Ferguson’s side often had the upper hand, which explains Henry’s surprisingly modest win record against them.
6. Robbie Fowler – 8 goals
Liverpool’s “God” found plenty of joy in clashes with United. Whether in red or briefly in City blue, Fowler struck eight times. His first goal against them, a thunderous effort past Peter Schmeichel as a 20-year-old, remains one of his personal favourites.
7. Les Ferdinand – 8 goals
Sir Les, one of the Premier League’s great finishers, scored 159 league goals overall, eight of which came against United. His powerful header in Newcastle’s famous 5–0 win over Ferguson’s men in 1996 remains a defining moment of his career.
8. Steven Gerrard – 8 goals
Liverpool’s captain fantastic always rose to the occasion against United. His eight goals across 30 league meetings included one of the rivalry’s most iconic celebrations—kissing the Old Trafford camera lens after scoring.
9. Phil Foden – 8 goals
The City academy graduate has become a derby-day specialist. His eight goals have come at an outstanding rate of one every 120 minutes, proving how much he thrives on the intensity of facing United.
10. Pascal Gross – 7 goals
While most names on this list are legends, Gross is a surprise entry. Across seven seasons at Brighton, he managed 30 league goals—seven of which came against United. A true bogeyman for the Red Devils despite never playing for a traditional giant.
