Barcelona forwards, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal have been fined by UEFA for breaching post-match anti-doping procedures after their Champions League semi-final loss to Inter Milan.
The European football body’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body announced the sanctions on Friday, stating that both players failed to report immediately to the doping control station at the San Siro, as required by competition rules.
The duo were each handed a €5,000 penalty by the European football body’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body for failing to report immediately to the doping control station, in line with competition regulations.
According to Marca and AS, the offence was procedural and did not involve failing a drug test.
It followed Barcelona’s 3–0 defeat in Milan, which sealed their elimination from the tournament.
UEFA also sanctioned head coach Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg, imposing €20,000 fines and a one-match suspension each for misconduct and breach of the body’s general principles of conduct.
The pair were found to have acted improperly during and after the match.
Barcelona, as a club, was fined a combined €7,750 — €5,250 for objects thrown onto the pitch and €2,500 for fireworks ignited by supporters during the semi-final.
UEFA stated that the sanctions take immediate effect, with suspensions to be served in the next European fixture.
