The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has renamed Charly Boy Bus Stop to Olamide Baddo Bus Stop in honour of renowned rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Baddo.
The renaming is part of a larger initiative to celebrate notable local and national figures.
Announcing the development, the outgoing council chairman, Hon. Kolade Alabi David, whose tenure concluded on Friday, July 25, explained that the gesture aims to recognize individuals who have brought prestige to the community through their talent, achievements, and impact on society.
“As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State,” David said.
“Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies.”
Several streets have recently been renamed as follows:
Ilaje Road has been renamed King Sunny Ade Road.
Bariga Road is now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way.
Community Road in Akoka has been changed to Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road.
Ajidagan Street is now Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street.
Ifeanyi Street has been renamed Abolore Akande (9ice) Street.
Ayodele Street in Ladi-Lak is now Tony Tetuila Street.
Ilojo Crescent in Obanikoro has been changed to Bukayo Saka Street.
This development follows a similar move by the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, which renamed 24 streets in its territory just a few weeks ago.
